how do i rest

I’ve been avoiding the word “burnout” for months, because saying it out loud feels almost like an admission of defeat. How can I be burnt out if I’m still moving and getting things done?? but I’ve been tired for way too long, so something is definitely off.

I’m trying my best to take things more slowly this year—keeping boundaries, gaming every now and then, seeing friends…it’s really hard to stop when you’ve been an overachiever for so long, but I’m sure I can find some sort of balance eventually. We’ll see…!!

Pocket Sketchbook 2021–2023

(the sticker on the cover is a drawing of my D&D characters from my friend Kat!)

For some reason I never share much from my sketchbooks, despite really enjoying looking at other people’s… I feel like “sketchbook tours” and the like weren’t really a thing until very recently, so it doesn’t come naturally to me (plus conflicted feelings re: being online, but that’s a conversation for another day). Anyway, I finished this pocket sketchbook recently and thought it’d be fun to share a bit of it!

I posted the whole sketchbook as a PDF on our Patreon, but here’s a little selection of pages:

It’s them

Some little doodles of these demons that I did while playing around in Procreate—I rarely draw “finished” stuff that isn’t comic work these days, so this was fun! I’ve been really enjoying these little characters, and playing with the halftone brushes from Halftone Hospital.

Time Management for the Inconsistent

I’ve been meaning to write about how I organized my time to make The Do-Over for a while now, so here it is: a guide on how I organize my life to make a graphic novel.

I’m also adding some methods that I tried that didn’t quite work because I think it helps guide my reasoning towards the methods I do use, but also because it might be useful to someone else! Who knows!
